The choices for buying pens are huge and so it is important to choose the right one for your situation. Color, ink type, dot size and feel are taken into account. Here we talk about the type of ink that is used.
Ballpoint pens (ballpoint pens)
Ballpoints are one of the most common and well-known types. They were first patented in 1888, but were not commercially viable until the 1940s when the Biro brothers started producing them. The ink used in ballpoint pens is usually oil-based and dries faster than other types of ink. This means fewer spots when you are writing. Because the ink is thick, ballpoint pens use less ink during writing and last longer than other pen types. However, thicker ink will "clump" more often, so you need to apply more writing pressure. As a result, these are not the best choice for long writing. But if you are just looking for a simple pen for everyday use, ballpoint pens are an easy and reliable option and usually the lightest in weight. Roller Pens (Rollerballs)
Rollerballs were first invented in the 1960s and use a similar design to ballpoint pens, but mostly with water-based ink. Water-based ink flows faster and attracts more into the paper than ballpoint ink. The smooth convenience requires less pressure and ensures a smooth, comfortable writing experience. And because the ink flows so smoothly, roller balls are ideal for writing text with dark and fine lines. They also come in a wider range of colors because they use water-soluble dyes. Use a roller ball if you have to write for a longer period of time. We offer various roller ball options.
Gel pens
Gel pens combine features of ballpoint pens and roller pens and were also invented in the 60s, but only became commercially available in the 80s. They use water-based linked which has a consistency between both types of ink. This will cause the ink to smear less quickly but still flows freely enough for smooth writing. As a result, gel pens offer the comfort of roller pens, with the performance of ballpoint pens. And because they use pigments instead of regular dyes, gel pens are also available in different colors. If you want to make a bold statement but still expect reliability, gel pens are a good choice. Many of our pens accept gel refills, but they are more expensive.
Markers (Markers)
Markers were first invented in the 1940s, but the "Magic Marker" was commercially available almost 20 years later. The markers are available in four types of ink: based on pigment, water, oil and alcohol. Pigment and water-based inks are for traditional paper. On the other hand, oil and alcohol-based inks are for non-paper media (e.g., plastic, metal, or glass). These pens include permanent markers, non-permanent markers (e.g., Dry erasable markers), markers, and pens with porous tip (or felt-tip pen). With such a wide variety of point sizes, colors and types, markers work great for both writers and artists. Fountain pen
Fountain pens are the most traditional type of pen and can be refilled with compatible ink. Refillable writing instruments from more than 1,000 years ago and up to the 1950s were the most common type of pen (unlike the Quills). Stylus pens
Stylus pens are a two-in-one tool. One part is a traditional pen that writes on paper and the other part contains a stylus. A stylus has a round rubber tip that helps you navigate on touchscreen devices.
Some stylus pens have a stylus on the top of the pen and others have a stylus on the tip of the pen. Scrolling, selecting and marking are all made easier with stylus pens. Stylus pens also keep your screen free of fingerprints and scratches.
